These crunchy quinoa chocolate bars are the perfect healthier sweet treat for you and your little ones. Made with just three simple ingredients, dark chocolate, popped quinoa and Biona Organic Smooth Peanut Butter, they’re rich, chocolatey, crunchy and naturally packed with protein and fibre for an easy snack that will keep you and the kids full.

Protein: 8g per bar
Fibre: 5g per bar

Ingredients

150g dark chocolate 

4 tbsp Biona Organic Smooth Peanut Butter

125g popped quinoa (or regular quinoa)

Method

  1. Line a 6”x4” loaf pan with parchment paper
  2. If using regular quinoa, toast the quinoa in a dry skillet over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until the grains begin to pop.
  3. Melt the dark chocolate in a microwave for 60 seconds, stirring halfway, until it's completely smooth.
  4. Add the peanut butter to the warm, melted chocolate and stir until it’s all combined.
  5. Pour in the popped quinoa and mix it all together.
  6. Spoon the mixture into the tin and press down to make an even layer.
  7. Pop in the freezer for 20 minutes or until the chocolate has hardened.
  8. Remove from the tray and chop into bars.
  9. Enjoy immediately or store in the fridge.
