Banana Bread with Chocolate Swirls

Who else is in love with Banana Bread? Put those over-ripe bananas to good use with our healthy twist on this classic pick-me-up. Made even better with delicious swirls of our Organic Dark Chocolate Spread. Enjoy a slice with friends with a cup of tea.


150g flour, plus more for dusting the tin.

75g shredded coconut

115g Biona Organic Coconut sugar

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

3 ripe dark brown bananas

30g Natural yogurt

2 large eggs, lightly beaten

6 tbsp baking spread or butter 

1 tsp vanilla extract

75g chopped walnuts

75g Biona Organic Dark or Milk Chocolate Spread


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Butter a large loaf tin and dust with flour.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the flour, coconut, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine the mashed banana with the yogurt, eggs, cocomega, and vanilla. Gently add the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir it all together. The batter will be thick and lumpy. Fold in the chopped walnuts.
  5. In a microwave safe bowl, heat the chocolate spread for about 15 seconds, stir, and microwave for another 15 to make it smooth. Set aside.
  6. Put the half the batter into the loaf tin.  Spoon half of the chocolate spread over the batter and using a butter knife, swirl it through.
  7. Pour in the remaining batter and repeat the chocolate spread swirl.
  8. Bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, not including any hot melty chocolate spread goodness. Cool the loaf completely in the tin.
  9. Slice, serve & enjoy.
