Date Syrup Toffee Apples

Prep: 1_hr_10_mins Cook: 5_mins

4 large apples (stems removed)

150g chopped walnuts

350g bottle of Biona Date Syrup

Lolly sticks

  1. Line a baking tray with some parchment paper, and place the chopped walnuts into a small bowl.
  2. Prepare the apples by washing them in hot water, and then drying with a tea towel. This removes their waxy coating and will help the syrup to stick.
  3. Insert the lolly sticks into the apples, about halfway through the apple.
  4. Pour the date syrup into a small saucepan and slowly bring to a boil. Once it begins to bubble, reduce the heat immediately and simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat.
  5. When the date syrup has stopped bubbling, hold one of the apples by the stick and lower it into the syrup until it is coated. If you need to, you can use a spoon to scoop the syrup over the apple until it has a smooth, glossy coating.
  6. Roll the coated apple in the chopped walnuts.
  7. Set onto the parchment paper and repeat these steps with all the apples.
  8. Once all apples have been coated, place the tray in the fridge to chill for at least 1 hour.
