Delivery and Ordering Questions

Where can I purchase Biona products?

Our product range is available to purchase from our website where you can set up your very own personal account. Alternatively, a selection of our products are widely available in Ocado, Amazon, Wholefoods Market, Planet Organic, As Nature Intended and other good independent health food shops. Unfortunately we can’t specify which particular stores our products are available in, but we'll point you in the right direction check out our stockists page.

Do you offer any discounts on your online shop?

Yes we are. Please check our website for the latest promotions and deals. Please remember to sign-up to our newsletter to receive exclusive offers, promotions and competitions!

Do we charge delivery costs and is there a minimum order?

We charge £3.99 delivery for orders under £50.00. After that delivery will be free of charge in the UK. We currently do not offer any services outside the UK. All deliveries require a signature and we allow 3-5 working days for delivering all orders.

Do the parcels require a signature?

Yes, to guarantee the safe arrival of our parcels we require a signature for the delivery of all orders so please select a suitable delivery address where your order can be signed for. If you are not available to take delivery of your order, a card will be left notifying you that we will automatically try to redeliver the following day. Alternatively, if you are not available to take delivery of your order our courier may leave your parcel with a neighbour; again they should leave you a card informing you of where to collect the parcel from. Please enter your mobile number and email address on your account and our courier's will send you the tracking information for your order by text or email. Please note that DPD introduced a new policy in 2021 whereby if delivering to a residential address and the recipient is not home, parcels are instead left at a local DPD PickUp shop. This allows you to still receive your parcel on the expected day, whilst also reducing  carbon emissions.

Are you delivering outside the UK?

Unfortunately we cannot offer deliveries outside the UK at present. However we have a few international distributors who can advise stockists or you may be able to purchase directly from. For details of international stockists please go to “Where to buy”.

I live close by or am driving past Windmill Organics Ltd (Biona). Can I pick up my order rather than have it delivered?

Unfortunately not, all orders need to be processed through our online shop and will be dispatched through our warehouse partners in Kent.

Do you sell your products at trade prices?

We direct all our trade customers to our Wholesale Distributors. For more information on becoming a trade customer please call our sales team on Tel: 0208 547 2775 or email info@biona.co.uk.

Product Questions

Where can I find nutritional information about your products?

On our website the nutritional information is displayed on each product page, simply click on the product you want more information on.

How do you make your nut butters?

We want to produce the best tasting nut butters available, which is why we have got our own roasting facilities in the factory to freshly roast them, then grind them immediately into a paste and fill them into the jar for optimum freshness. We never use emulsifiers or palm fat – simply 100% organic nuts. Sometimes we might add a dash of salt into our peanut butter. Our latest creation is coconut with peanut and coconut with almond butter which tastes amazing – why not try it? All our lids are BPA free, which is very important to us.

Are your products gluten free?

We have a range of certified gluten free rice breads which can be found in good independent health food stores or online from Ocado and Amazon. A large amount of Biona products are made with ingredients that do not contain gluten, but since they may not be batch tested we don’t declare them as gluten free. You can find out about all our products by choosing the filtr options for product from our website and click on it to get the ingredients list.

Where do your source your palm oil from?

At Biona we are striving to avoid the use of palm oil where possible. However if this is not possible we ensure that only RSPO accredited resources are used in the production. We always make every effort to be as ethical and sustainable as possible.

Do you use BPA in your cans?

We are pleased to confirm that after many years of search we have now found cans with a lacquer produced without BPA. All our new Biona cans have already been converted, however some of the old non BPA-free cans may still be in circulation in stores. Please look out for the circular symbol on the front and back of the labels indicating clearly when BPA has not been used. All cans on our Biona online store are in the new BPA-free style.

Are your products free from genetically modified foods?

Yes all our products are made with GM free ingredients. This is the assurance you are getting when purchasing certified organic foods, where by law it is prohibited to use GM ingredients in the production.

Do your products contain hydrogenated or trans fats?

We never use hydrogenated oils and fats in our products but instead replace them with healthy oils and fats such as cold pressed oils and coconut oil. In order to avoid hydrogenated fat in our Biona margarine we use RSPO certified palm oil which is necessary to solidify the margarine and to make it spreadable. So far it has not been possible to produce margarine without the use of Palm oil, but should this change in the future than we will adopt this production method immediately.

What are you doing to reduce the amount of plastic you use?

Here at Biona, we are working hard every day to minimise the use of plastic in our products, and our goal is to be as sustainable as possible. Many of our products are now available in glass jars that can be recycled/reused without any compromise to their structural integrity. We have recently invested in the removal of BPAs from all of our canned goods, once supply of a suitable alternative was found - this change has now been rolled out across our entire product range. Additionally, we are currently investigating the use of corn-starch based biodegradable plastics for the shrink wrap that holds our cases of food together, and are using cardboard packaging filler and recyclable bubble-wrap where necessary.

We understand the concerns surrounding the use of plastic and we are passionate about this issue too. Rest assured we are doing our best to work with our production sites in order to find suitable alternatives.

Want to stock us?

We are always looking to stock our products in new and exciting places, so please do get in touch with us directly.

Is there any slave labour involved in your tomato harvesting?

In recent news it has come to light that the harvesting of tomatoes, particularly in southern Italy, often involves slave labour. Over time many migrants have fled to Italy seeking asylum, which has resulted in them being exploited by the agricultural sector. Their working conditions have often been described as a form of modern slavery.

At Biona, building long-lasting supplier relationships is at the forefront of what we do. We make sure to only ever work with those who are committed to respecting and protecting the human rights of all those involved in the production of our organic and sustainable range of tomato products. All Biona tomatoes are mechanically harvested which means at no point throughout the supply chain is forced labour used.
